Preparation for Prayer: Speak your word to me, Lord, your servant is listening. I long to hear your voice above the drone and chaos of my life. I truly need to be transformed by you. Amen.
Scripture Reading: For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans 15:4 NIV
It’s really hard to be truly generous without hope. Hopelessness steals our joy and clouds our ability to receive anything good. Hopelessness can lead to helplessness and nagging questions crowd our mind. How can I know that God’s promises are really for me? How can I know God is guiding me? How can I know God will provide for me? The assurance we long for comes as we allow God’s loving presence to saturate us with his grace, peace, and truth. Hope is born when we listen to God. Focus on hearing God’s voice. Tune out the others.
As you pray: Endurance is one of the hallmarks of maturing in Christ. Reading the Bible, prayer without ceasing and practicing spiritual disciplines reveal the heart of a believer. Veteran Christians know the value of endurance. Their stories are priceless gems in our lives. Recall great faith stories of people you know.
