Preparation for Prayer: My Hope is Built #368 United Methodist Hymnal

Scripture Reading: Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Matthew 6:25-27 NIV

We all worry from time to time.God knows what we need before we ask. But, sometimes we don’t know what we need. So, we blindly search for answers on our own. We worry if we don’t find meaning in careers or relationships. Disillusionment, disappointment and disgust are often the fruit of our own labor. Read the scripture again. Maybe post it somewhere so you can read it every day. Remember, God provides our daily needs and gives us strength to fulfill the tasks we’re called to fulfill. Let God be God. You are a beloved son or daughter of the Most High God. Never forget that he loves you and that he has great plans for you.  He will supply everything you need.

As you pray: Identify what  you worry about. Write your worries on a piece of paper.Feelings of inadequacy can plague our spirit and rob us of our joy. God is enough-today, tomorrow and forever. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with his presence and help you remember one of the names of God is Jehovah Jireh which means ‘God is my Provider.’  Crumple up that piece of paper and throw it away. Trust that God knows your situation and is working on it right now! Pray that God may show more people his faithfulness and how Wheatland can be the vehicle for him to use.
