Silent Choir | No Singing Required

The Silent Choir is a part of Wheatland's Christmas tradition. It's been running for over 15 years and has been seen by thousands inside our doors. Rehearsals for the Silent Choir begin in a few weeks so if you'd like to participate here's some helpful info.

What exactly does the Silent Choir do?

The silent choir performs "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's Messiah. Only instead of singing, the phrases of the song are written out on large cards and the choir members reveal their assigned word in timing with the "Hallelujah Chours" track. The video below illustrates the technique.

Similar to this only without the monk outfits.

Who can participate?

The silent choir is for anyone age 10 and up. Any child that wishes to participate must be able to attend every rehearsal.

When are rehearsals and when are performances?

Rehearsals begin October 28 and the group practices weekly through November. The performances have yet to be given a final date.
