Be part of a community where you can grow in your faith.
Reading Buddies is the beginning of a new program to extend being the hands and feet of Jesus at Georgetown beyond the Christmas season.
Georgetown Elementary is one of the Wheatland Salem Gift Mart schools. Volunteer “reading buddies” go into a classroom once a week for about 90 minutes to assist teachers with their literacy centers, which is currently a key part of the reading curriculum.
Volunteers serve in a variety of ways, the most common is helping individual students as they read aloud. Those who piloted this program last year thoroughly enjoyed the experience, had opportunities to interact with individual children, and were clearly providing a much needed service making a difference in the lives of the children.
If you are available once a week during school hours, please consider this easy but important way to serve.

New Study: Life can get hard. It is hard to find time for ourselves. It is hard to find time to dream. It is hard to nurture and or sometimes be aware of our very own God given, inner most deepest part. Most Importantly, it can be hard sometimes to find the time to connect to God, hear his voice and know the direction it is that he wants for our lives on an intimate level.
Motherhood and life is sacred but it can also be all consuming and we can lose our peace and or flounder in not knowing who we are anymore or what our purpose might be aside from being a mother.
The Climb, created by Brandis Phelan and housed on her YouTube channel @ https://www.youtube.com/user/MrsLoveAboveAll was inspired by the book called The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho. This workshop will be lovingly facilitated by Brandis Lynn Phelan, a current member of the Mom’s by Faith Community, in hopes to reconnect you to who you are once again.

Why am I doing this? I let my drinking and drug addiction take me to the depths of hell.
My so called friends were the hounds of hell. We caused chaos, anarchy and destruction to everyone who crossed our paths. I was a self-center, and selfish person, life was all about me.
I did not grow up in a bad family; I always had good jobs, a nice house, wife and four wonderful kids. I destroyed all of that, not only with my drinking and drug use but my heroin addiction took me to places, at times, I do not want to discuss but I need too. This helps keep me sober.
My hope is that if I can reach one person a day, with a shade of hope to walk away from the drugs, get right with their God and living a true life of honesty things will get better one day at a time.
My journey landed me twice in the Illinois Department Of Corrections, the big house, the joint.
In my last journey to prison I found my God and my calling. To give back and help others who were just like me. My wife of 17 years divorced me, I lost our dream house to foreclosure and all respect from my kids and the few friends I had left.
Today I am 100% clean and sober thanks to my own efforts, a 12 step program, my God and some great people. My mission is to give back in any way, shape or form. Not only from the addict who still suffers but with the parents who have an addict causing pain and heartache in their lives. I also have a 20 year old son lost in his addiction. We are a community and we need to help each other out. That is why I do what I do!
Aldersgate Conference on Spirit-filled living
In 2 Corinthians 3:17, the apostle Paul tells us that "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." At Aldersgate 2014, we will celebrate that through Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, there is both freedom from, and freedom to. Through song, creative prayer experiences, and relevant preaching, participants will have the opportunity to experience freedom from the pain of our past, the anxiety of our present, and fear about our future. We also will receive the freedom to walk in power, hope, and healing as we are equipped by the Holy Spirit to live and love like Jesus. Come and be refreshed, encouraged, and empowered!

The world is obsessed with telling secrets for the sake of sensationalism. But not all hidden things are poisonous and dark. Some secrets are forgiven, some are covered, and some are kept between you and God.
Jesus wants to spend secret time with you—an interior relationship that's unique to just you two. Sacred Secrets is the new 6-session study from Beth Moore that explores the theology of secrets. Secrets can be good or harmful. Some need forgiveness, and some should be kept between you and God. While Sacred Secrets is lighter than Beth's typical Bible studies, it does not lack richness or quality. Discussion potential abounds without any expectation of revealing personal, private information. Join Beth to find out what happens when we let God teach us "wisdom in the secret heart" (Psalm 51:6, ESV).

Did you know that for every series the pastors use different books, reference materials and illustrations to help them craft their messages? We thought it would be helpful to share those with you and encourage you to dive deep with us.
In Encounters With Jesus, New York Times bestselling author and renowned pastor Timothy Keller shows how people were changed when they met Jesus personally—and how we can be changed today through our own encounter with him.
What is my purpose in life? What is a good life? Why is there so much wrong with our world? What can I do to help make it right? These are some of the big questions that everyone must answer. And any lasting change in our lives will start with a change to one or more of our answers to these questions.
Jesus changed the life of every person he met in the Gospels, through powerful experiences and words that led them to unexpected and transforming answers to their big questions. These conversations can still address our questions and doubts today. Originally published as an eSeries,Encounters with Jesus focuses on several of these meetings — including with a skeptical student, a religious insider, an outcast, even Jesus’ mother — and shows how the central events in Jesus’ life provide ways for us to encounter him again or for the first time.
The search of your life is the search for your life.
What you are holding right now is an exploration of the human spirit; a journey into our deepest longings, our desires, our needs, our cravings, our souls.
Our need for intimacy, meaning, and destiny point to the existence of God and our need to connect with Him. This book will deeply stir you to consider and chase after the spiritual implications of your souls' deepest longings.
Looking for some reading on generosity and financial help? We recommend The Blessed Life by Robert Morris.
This book will transform your life for the better, bringing you guaranteed financial results. But it will do more than that, it will change every area of your life: marriage, family health and relationships. For when God changes your heart from selfishness to generosity, every part of your life journey is affected. If all believers followed the practical guidance of The Blessed Life, every church could be built, every nation would have an abundance of missionaries and all would reap the benefits of having a generous heart. With humor, passion and clarity, Robert Morris presents the secrets of living a blessed life both financially and spiritually.
A practical approach to creating wealth-based on the established principles of ancient Jewish wisdom-made accessible to people of all backgrounds
The ups and downs of the economy prove Rabbi Daniel Lapin's famous principle that the more things change, the more we need to depend upon the things that never change. There's no better source for both practical and spiritual financial wisdom than the time-tested knowledge found in the ancient Jewish faith and its culture. In the Second Edition of Thou Shall Prosper, Lapin offers a practical approach to creating wealth based on the established principles of ancient Jewish wisdom. This book details the ten permanent principles that never change, the ten commandments of making money if you will, and explores the economic and philosophic vision of business that has been part of Jewish culture for centuries. The book's focus is on making accessible to individuals of all backgrounds, the timeless truths that Jews have used for centuries to excel in business.
- Outlines ten fundamental "commandments" relating to business and money
- Includes insights that will increase your potential for creating wealth, no matter what your faith or background may be
- Blends contemporary business stories and Lapin's own business experiences with the wisdom of the Torah and Talmudic prescriptions
- This Second Edition provides new examples, especially of Internet related business opportunities. In addition, each chapter highlights specific action steps that can lead to wealth opportunities in both difficult economic times and periods of prosperity.
