Service Opportunity for Giftmart - Hat/Scarf Workshop Day | August 17 9 am - 12 pm | Naperville Campus
Come make a difference for our children at Giftmart by making hats and scarfs. Each year the students who are participants from Giftmart are able to pick a hat or scarf to keep warm. This has been a huge blessing to the families and YOU can be part of making a difference. Last year we gave away over 700 scarves and hats, so it takes a lot of people to keep up with the supply.
This workshop day is a fleece stocking cap construction workshop and/or a knit and crochet refresher session offered by Common Thread and Giftmart. Here are some ways you can be involved:
Come and see what it is all about
Learn how to make fleece hats - come with your own fleece
Get a refresher on knitting or crocheting - bring your own crochet hook and yarn to practice
Sign up to make scarfs and/or hats at home
Donate fleece and/or yarn (see specifications below)
Donate money so others can purchase the materials
Recommendations for yarn donations
acrylic yarn
#4 or worsted yarn (refers to the thickness of the yarn)
No wool due to possible allergies to wool
Color for boys or girls or that both can wear.
Recommendations for fleece donations
Fleece will be made into stocking caps for young children ages 3-12, so the pattern or print of the fleece needs to be small.
