Prayer Group | Zoom | Wednesdays at 12 p.m. | Zoom
Be part of a group of people who pray together for our community. Take a break in the middle of the week to focus on God and connect with others to pray.
One of the initial inspirations came from Tozer’s remarks in The Pursuit of God,
“Every age has its own characteristics. Right now we are in an age of religious complexity.
The simplicity which is in Christ is rarely found among us. In its stead are programs, methods, organizations and a world of nervous activities which occupy time and attention but can never satisfy the longing of the heart.
The shallowness of our inner experience, the hollowness of our worship, and that servile imitation of the world which marks our promotional methods all testify that we in this day, know God only imperfectly, and the peace of God scarcely at all.
If we would find God amid all the religious externals, we must first determine to find Him, and then proceed in the way of simplicity.”
I have become increasingly interested in the way of simplicity as it applies to prayer, both individual and group.
By this time in my life I have discovered the freeing and refreshing wisdom of 1 Corinthians 15:10 says, “By the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain.”
Now to the point of a possible offering to our community in the form of a group — a time when the group would focus on simple prayer.
I have researched numerous possibilities and one that has emerged is expressed in the simple acrostic ACTS.
Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication would provide the format.
