Virtual Mission Trip to Dominican Republic | July 29 - August 1 | 8:00-9:30 a.m. via Zoom
Have you always thought to yourself, “I wish that I could go on a Mission Trip?” Now, is your chance and you don’t even need to leave the state or even your home if you don’t want to.
The Kids Alive Team, our Faith Promise Mission Partners in Dominican Republic, came up with a great idea for a Virtual Mission Trip for people of all ages. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO DO A MISSION TRIP and change the trajectory of the life of a child.
What does a virtual mission look like? And what is the outcome?
WHAT TO EXPECT:
1) Just like any mission trip, we recommend for you to send out support letters for prayer and/or financial support. The financial support will go toward sponsorships of children at Kids Alive - Caraballo site. Download a sample letter below. There is also a nominal fee of $10 per person or $25 per family of 3 or more. (If finances are a concern, please contact Rev. Kim Neace, as we don’t want anyone to miss out on this exciting opportunity)
2) You will receive a prayer rock with a person from Wheatland and a student from Kids Alive to pray for during our time together.
3) Meet virtually via Zoom with the Kids Alive team each morning July 29 - August 1 from 8:00 - 9:30 a.m.
4) During our Zoom time, we will:
Have devotion time,
Learn the culture and places of the Dominican Republic,
Meet some of the Kids Alive students and staff,
Learn about Kids Alive and how we can impact the life of another,
Do a related activity you would do as if you were in the DR,
Connect and Pray with one another.
5) We will meet up outside at Naperville campus to end our time together on Saturday, August 1 from 5-9 p.m. with a bring your own food picnic and prayer rocks. (We will follow the applicable COVID guidelines at that time).
6) Each day we will pick things to do as a group that we would experience if we were in the Dominican Republic such as take cold showers, sleep on the floor or in the garage, eat PB & J sandwiches, try rice and beans, etc.
7) Mission packet pick up will be Sunday July 26 between 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. (if this time doesn’t work, let us know and we can arrange for you to get it another time before Wednesday).
WHAT ARE THE OUTCOMES:
1) Your faith grows
2) You learn about a new culture
3) You have the opportunity to either sponsor a child at Kids Alive or help to get a child sponsored
4) You connect with new and old friends
5) You have a fun time
6) You experience God on a mission trip from the comfort of your own home
