Wheatland University

Wheatland University

What sets Wheatland Apart? It's a similar question people ask when they search for a college or university. Each of the ministry directors will preach during this series helping the congregation to see how in their ministry area we at Wheatland are raising up people who love God, love others, and change the world by becoming devoted, connected, and generous followers of Jesus Christ. The Wheatland University Series is a place to learn not only the basics but how to live a Christ-honoring life in a way that is attractive to the culture around us.

Baseball is America’s pastime. There is just something about this game that spans generations and connects entire communities. We saw this firsthand last fall with the World Series win by the Chicago Cubs. Perfect strangers and life-long friends alike share the frenzy of emotion that baseball evokes. This four-part series will explore the great American pastime and share lessons for the Christian life we glean from the game. We’ll be connecting baseball with Paul’s letter to the Philippians.

The Holy Spirit is one of the most misunderstood and neglected aspects of our Christian faith. But yet the Spirit was Jesus' greatest gift to us. He even said that it was better for him to go away so that we could receive the Spirit. In this sermon series we'll be exploring who the Holy Spirit is, what the Spirit does, and how it impacts our lives.

Believe

Believe

What does it look like for us to believe? What would it mean for our lives? For our church? For this world? When we believe we’re more willing to take risks. When we believe we’re more willing to trust. When we believe we can do amazing things in the name of Jesus.

Woven through the life and ministry of Jesus is a series of invitations to enter into a new way of life. Jesus invited the first disciples to “come and see” and he offers us the same invitation today. In these invitations we find the life of faith. But the true challenge of faith is to respond in an intentional partnership, and not merely to let these invitations remain words on paper. Throughout the season of Lent, leading up to Easter, we will be exploring the invitations that Jesus offers to us, and what it might mean for us to respond with our lives today.
